George Faerlin is a 27-year-old former minor-league baseball pitcher. His Talent manifested during a drunken brawl over a baseball game that resulted in serious injury. While it was eventually ruled that the crime was not committed using his Talent, it still had the effect of ending his baseball career (since his Talent was related to his sport, baseball rules prohibited
him from participation). George was eventually found liable for the injuries, despite what seemed to be a clear self-defense case. He spent six months in jail following the criminal trial, and then was ordered to pay a significant amount in the subsequent civil trial.
Desperate for money after getting out, George committed further crimes and was eventually drafted into Section 2 under the Taft laws. His arrogance and team mentality were easily molded into an “us vs. them” mindset, with Section 2 as his new team/family, and their enemies deserving of no consideration.
George is by no means a cruel man, but he doesn’t feel any moral reservations about using his talent against Section 2’s enemies. He is not the type to question orders, and it would take a great deal to shake him out of his compliant mindset. Section 2 has given him a new life, and it is one he’s determined to enjoy. He has managed to form a strong romantic relationship with Andrea Mitchell.
