Hassan Ali grew up under the reign of Nasser. He first saw military duty at at the age of 16 when he fought Israel in the Six Day War. The sting of that defeat, and his commitment to driving the Zionist out of Palestine made him a committed military man.
By the time of the Yom Kippur war, Ali had achieved the rank of Captain, and was in charge of his own special forces team. In the confusion of the Yom Kippur war, Ali and his team were lost somewhere in the Sinai peninsula. Egyptian forces found Ali, dehydrated but alive, at the site of what appeared to be a firefight that took the lives of the rest of his squad. When he recovered, it was clear that Ali had experienced some sort of religious epiphany. He was rapidly transferred into Anwar Sadat’s small secret Talent force.
Ali’s idealism took a hit when Egypt entered into lasting peace with Israel, but as a career Talent officer he served the governments of Egypt until Yama’s Apocalypse. He was on assignment elsewhere when the Apocalypse happened, and when Osiris rose to restore fertility to the Nile River valley. Ali could not stomach serving a president in the pagan trappings of ancient Egypt, or live in a country beholden to a pagan “god.” Ali is now a mercenary, putting his military and Talent skills to use defending Muslim interests in the world at large.
